Resolutions for 2014

As the year is coming to an end (Only a couple hours left) we thought we could list our resolutions for next year both personal and blog related.

Rashika
Reading Resolutions
  1. Increase tolerance. Seriously. I need to work on that. I get offended way too easily. Just the other day, I was reading this scene that involved mates discovering each other and the first thing someone said was to 'look for the girl' and all I could think of was WHY COULDN'T IT BE A GUY? HUH? Yes. I overdo it. So I need to work on that.
  2. Make better reading choices. I really need to get a hold over myself. I've made many bad decisions when it comes to books over the past year. Some of course were voluntary (ahem Slammed) but some weren't. I love ranting, so I don't want to completely stop reading books I won't like but I really need to get a hold over it.
  3. Stop DNFing so much. I dnfed a LOT of books this year. Again I need to actually give things a shot and try not to DNF until I've read at least more than 33%.
  4. Read more? *starts crying* I CANNOT. I CANNOT. ITS TOO HARD. I WANT TO READ MORE BUT TIME.
Blogging Resolutions
  1. Stop caring about the stats. Yup. I need to work on not being as obsessive but I am getting there. I promise. I am becoming a better human being (okay that's stretching it).
  2. Do more interesting things. Yeahhh we need to be more creative.
Personal Resolutions
  1. Get into College. Pretty Please? I want to grow up and be rich. I don't want to have to rent a box from Walmart. Plus a girl needs money for her books.
  2. Talk to people more. I am just putting that out there. I am not a social human being. I want to become a hermit. I am probably not fit for normal society but I have to try. I'll have to mingle in with the mundanes.
Paulina
I don't believe in resolutions because it's pretty stupid and noone ever does them but hey I'll give it a shot.

Reading Resolutions
  1. Read more- seriously I'm slacking on my reading schedule
  2. Stop getting depressed over forgetting story lines and stuff. Okay this is stopping me reading a lot. Every time I find a book that I love but is more of a one read kind of book I get sad about the fact that I will most likely forget a lot of the stuff that happens within the book.
Blogging Resolutions
  1. Start to add more posts- Rashika has been fabulous with getting the blog organised and posting amazing fun posts that sometimes I don't participate in. So I shall change that and start to get more organised within the blog.
Personal Resolutions
  1. Learn to play the guitar- this is still up there from last year. I still want to be able to actually play something decent on my guitar.
  2. Be less shallow- I have noticed that I have become a bit of a shallow person and I need to stop doing that because I don't have much fun that way.
OKAY
Guys I hope you enjoy your new years and your resolutions whether or not you actually stick by them!

  1. One of my goals is actually to DNF MORE! I used to feel guilty about abandoning books early on, but I've come to realise that I'm much happier when I don't force myself through titles I don't enjoy. Talk to people more often is one I agree with, though. I'm terrible at it in reality (it doesn't require half as much effort online), but I need to break out of my antisocial habits eventually.... I guess... *cries*

Paulina, good luck with learning to play the guitar! It's one of my favourite instruments, and I wish I had the patience to learn to play it well. I attempted the ukulele last year and gave up after a few weeks. I'm not great at persevering. :P

  2. So funny, because one of my goals consistently for the past year or so has been to DNF MORE books, hah. There's just not enough time to hit all the books I want to read, let alone waste time on ones I'm not into. And hah hah, I see Sam below me is saying the same thing. ;)

I think trying to not be obsessed with stats is a good thing, though. I do think it's smart to generally be aware of where you are/identify what you like/continue to try to do better, but getting wrapped up in numbers is a losing game. I think bloggers are much happier when they write about and review what they're most passionate about.

Good luck with your 2014 goals, ladies! Cheers to a great 2014.

  3. 300+ books is amazing Rashika. I don't know how you do it, but you're living every book bloggers dream! Haha

I absolutely loved TFIOS too Paulina. It's such an amazing book. I recommend that you read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell too. It's a great book and is loved by John Green too :)

  4. Oh I feel a lot happier when I don't force myself either but sometimes I feel like I DNF because of my own prejudices and I feel like I should try to give the book a chance before getting offended and DNFing.
So am I. I am also a hermit since I never leave the house.. apparently that is not a good thing. People are difficult and I just don't comprehend them. I AM NOT FIT FOR NORMAL SOCIETY. But I'll have to try .-.

  5. Hey Farhana! :D Haven't seen you around in a while. It's nice to see you again :D

I don't know how I do it either :P I am pretty sure I won't be able to do it this year.

  6. University has taken over my life as of September x__x I'm so behind on my uni reading that I gave up and decided to blog and visit other book bloggers. My priorities are in need of sorting out haha

I'm sure you'll do great this year too! If nothing else, you'll be whooping my butt in the reading challenge without a doubt haha

  7. I am obviously the odd bird (though that isn't anything new) :P I just give up too quickly I think. I mean there were times this year when I had 3 DNFs in a row so I figure I am doing something wrong and it's not only the books.

Sometimes blogging can just become pressurizing and you need to know where to draw a line so that doing something you love doesn't become a burden.

Thanks Wendy! Happy New Year! :D

  9. I just don't have the patience to learn it to be honest. It's been sitting in my room for a year now.
