The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog (we modified it to include some more stuff), showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
This week has been hell. Literal hell. Somehow I managed to get myself mixed up in a really weird relationship... My cat has been missing for a week and I've given up with hope numerous times because of this. It's so heart breaking that I don't even know how I survived this yet. I'm still hoping she'll come back but it's slowly causing me pain. Then on top of that I came home from work with the biggest possible cold imaginable and been in bed for two days missing a day of work (and money :( ) I can completely however sympathize with Rashika however. I hated my prom two years ago. I was in a wheelchair, high on meds and every single girl complained to me about their legs and feet hurting. ME. The girl in a wheelchair. The girl that just got out of hospital with a broken leg. Pfff people.

So. Umm. This week was pretty great until like... Friday. I mean my books arrived and I won another giveaway (courtesy of Danielle over at What Danielle Did Next) but then on Friday came the Snow Ball (which is basically prom). The worst night of my life. Especially since it was the first and last one I'll ever attend. Like WOW. Are teenagers REALLY that annoying? Loud music, bad food, high heels I couldn't walk in and no social skills to speak of, well you can imagine how wonderful my evening turned out. Hey at least I had a friend who totally understood how I felt so that's cool. Anyway, this week, over at The Social Potato, I reviewed Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen.

So I haven't page much attention to cover reveals this week what with back to school and stuff but I encountered this one on yesterday and boy is it pretty. I read a novella by this author around Christmas last year and absolutely adored it so I am super pumped about her debut novel!. Plus.. the pretty cover.

Review for Something Wicked this Way Comes and The Geography of You and Me. Guest Post with Olga Godim.
A Snow Ball sounds like the sort of thing I'd avoid. I don't even like being on the bus with other people. :P I'll have to check out your review of Stolen Songbird, Rashika. I'm planning to read it soon and have heard mostly good things.
ReplyDeletePaulina, I hope things pick up soon! Hopefully next week will be better for you. And I hope your cat returns safe and sound. I look forward to seeing what you think of The Geography of You and Me. :)
HEART'S BLOOD *bounces* I LOVE Marillier, she is an awesome author. Cress is also really good and I'm interested to see what you think of The wicked we have done. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your cat Paulina :(
Rashika: Awww, it's okay. *hugs* I think I still have three years before prom. Lots of time to be prepared to be disappointed.
ReplyDeletePaulina: I'm not a huge fan of animals, but I really, really hope you find your cat. :(
I hope next week's a better one for you, girls.
Great haul! I cannot wait for your reviews!
ReplyDeleteMissie @ A Flurry of Ponderings
Oh noes! I hope you both have a much better week. {{{posivibes}}} that your kitty will return soon, Paulina. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteRashika - your prom disaster reminded me of a saying someone send me on FB the other day: 'I'm not antisocial. I'm selectively social. There is a difference'. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Pauline, I so feel for you, I've sadly been there a few times with my cats. Sometimes they came back (longest 3 weeks) and sadly in 3 cases, they didn't. Keep your hopes pls.
We Are Called To Rise intrigues me - the cover and the title makes me wonder what is behind it. And also I'll be watching you.
Have a great week and Happy Reading!
My Sunday post is here
I remember at our prom thinking "I have to spend time AFTER school with these people too?" LOL. I'm not even sure what the point of prom is, to be honest. :)
ReplyDeletePaulina, hope your cat comes home! That's tough...
Nice haul. A friend of mine has The Dark Glory War and recommended it, recognize the cover. Haven't read it though...
I'm sorry y'all had a rough week. I loved our school dances, but then again me and my weirdo friends all went together and stayed in our own little corner, haha.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the Lunar Chronicles, I'm currently waiting for my copy of Cress to come in. Happy reading! My STS
Wow, I'm sorry you guys had such a rough week! I hope this one turns out better. But you know, Rashkika, if you were annoyed by the Snow Ball, that just seems to cement your status as One of Us, the Book Nerds Annoyed By Dumb Teen Rites of Passage. :P I kid, I kid, some of those are very fun. *whispers* But some of them are not.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like the Whipple, though--that cover is gorgeous! I'll be on the lookout for your thoughts. I was SO excited about THE WICKED WE HAVE DONE, but...well, I'll let you read it and then we can discuss.
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
Bird is wonderful, I hope you enjoy it (if you haven't already read it!) and Scandal looks good!
ReplyDeletep.s now following you via GFC & Bloglovin' :)
I avoided it for two years and decided that I should go this year .. that didn't turn out all that well :P
ReplyDeleteI AM A TOTAL BLACK SHEEP (along with Keertana)... neither of us enjoyed Stolen Songbird as much as everyone else .-.
I KNOW! you recommended it to me so long ago and I finally decided to buy meself a copy :D
ReplyDeletePrepare to hate everyone if you don't like people :P (I have no social skills).
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
ReplyDeleteTHANKS!!! :D
ReplyDeleteLOL. That's is so true with relevance to me. Seriously. I am only social around a certain type of people but with everyone else I just cannot.
ReplyDeleteWe are called to rise was actually on 'read now' on netgalley if you're still interested! :)
Thanks!
I skipped the after party. No way am I going to put up with more than I have to :P
ReplyDeletePlus I am not a part person anyway :P
The point of prom is to dress up. Everyone feels uncomfortable but apparently, it's tradition. (or that's what I gather anyway)
THAT SOUNDS FUN. I went with a friend but she is social. My other friend went last year and had a horrible time so she skipped this year... I probably should have listened to her :P
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THEM TOO!
I HOPE YOUR COPY OF CRESS COMES SOON! :)
I absolutely LOVE Heart's Blood and am looking forward to reading #scandal, Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and The Wicked We Have Done soon. Wonderful haul! :)
ReplyDelete*whispers* Most of them aren't. I do not consider myself one of them for I am a creature of the shadows. I come to life when the clock strikes midnight and I read and read and read.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the book :( It's a pity because the cover was gorgeous but pretty covers lie. We should all know better by now :P
AWW NOO. I am starting today and now you have me worried :P
If I don't like it though, I know who I am ranting to now (you have been warned).
Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
ReplyDeleteI am really excited about The Heart's Blood and #Scandal. Hundred Thousands Kingdoms was an impulse buy and I hope I don't regret it.
Thanks Keertana!! :)
