Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves #35

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog (we modified it to include some more stuff), showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I had vacations this week and I don't think I got much done. It was a fairly okay week until Thursday and then shit hit the fan on one of my reviews over @ The Social Potato. You can read my account of what happened here. Anyways it totally brought my mood down. I mean it WAS my first BBA and so it was a right of passage but it still hasn't died down yet. The author even wrote a 'I am quitting writing' post but she deleted the post recently and may be thinking about getting in touch with the site that must not be named -.- Like are people really this stupid? Are they so damn stubborn and cannot just admit they were in the wrong and get over it? On the author world front, John Green strikes again and this time preached to all of us about misogyny (with relevance to Twilight). Biblio Daze did an amazeballs post on this, which you can read here. With that said my misfortune does not end there, I fell down on friday and broke myself .-. DAMN YOU ICE! *holds fist*. Anyway that was my sob story for what should have been a week for tons of sleeping.

Apart from me being away for two nights at university visiting my friend and now working this whole weekend it doesn't feel as if I had any vacation time at all! :( I had literally no sleep, and it's been super busy even if I wasn't doing anything; so right now I'm surviving on my discounted Starbucks coffee. My job is the best! But apart from that I smell of coffee, I'm tired and I want to fall asleep and never wake up.

I made a post a few weeks ago here about being excited to read Panic by Lauren Oliver and my damned computer and kindle could not somehow download the book correctly with the whole DRM business and my non existent computer skills it was a hefty fight but I got there with the help of Rashika and I can finally say that I am reading PANIC!

Cover of the Week
At the beginning of the week I encountered a couple of pretty covers and as soon as I saw this one I literally forgot about all those. This is one of my most awaited books of the year (even though I haven't read the sequel) and the cover is gorgeous. I cannot. It's just so prettttttty. It makes me sad that the covers weren't redesigned until after Unspoken came out. I have the ugly cover for Unspoken and the pretty cover for Untold but never mind me heart wrenching tales of cover problems.

*hides* I can see you all judging me. I promised I wouldn't go on Netgalley or Edelweiss anymore but it's not my fault okay? One of the books was a read now, I requested the other ages ago and well the one I got from Edelweiss.. is just.. the last book in a trilogy I started a while ago. HOW CAN I RESIST?

  1. I really enjoyed the first two books in Pierres' Night Creatures trilogy (have yet to read the 3rd), so I decided to request Peacemaker. However, I DNFed it soon after starting. :( I just wasn't feeling it. Hope it works out better for you!

  3. Oh Rakshika, I'm sorry that you had such an awful week. I hope this week ends up being a much better one for you. I have heard amazing things about Red Rising, so can't wait to see how you get on with it. I hope you ladies enjoy all your books! :)

  4. Rashika, I know it must be hard, but try to 'file it away' now rather than letting it eat away at you. I guess every book blogger is prone to make that experience (though I dread it if it happens - I"m still quite new), but it does sound like a personal attack rather than criticise your review or the comments. And yes, the cover for Unmade is gorgeous!

  6. The whole author business.. I'm sorry that you had to endure it. It inspired me to write a post about it, because I still don't understand what some authors are thinking.. I hope this week will be better for you!

  7. Don't let it get to ya, you were honest and if authors don't like it, tough #$%^. Especially self pubbed... if they don't like a review or a comment they should shrug and moveon, it's part of the deal. Hope your new week is a good one.

The Fever looks good, curious about that one.

  8. I've only read the first one and enjoyed it which is why I got Peacemaker (and it was also on read now :P) but I am a worried since you didn't enjoy it :(

  9. Me too. I think I could use a better week. SAME HERE. Almost all my friends are raving about it and the ones who didn't enjoy it only found it boring (and not highly offensive). I really do hope I enjoy it!
    Thanks! :)

  10. When you see it happen to others it seems like it won't be such a big deal when it's your turn and then it does happen and it's really annoying :/

  12. It is isn't it? Especially since they request reviews, they have to realize that not everyone is going to love the book and if they were confident enough in their work, they wouldn't let it bother them all that much or better yet, they wouldn't bother reading it!

    Thanks! :)
