Goodreads Summary
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.
Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.
This is not my kind of book, or at least that’s what I thought until I read it. It left me speechless and believe me that doesn’t happen often I talk all the time, and I mean all the time! This book was so fantastic, and sooo addictive it was so hard to put it down at night. I just absolutely love how it was written in Alex’s and Brittney’s voice, and the difference between the two classes and how they all acted towards each other was so realistic. I don’t think the second book can get any better than this Brittney and Alex has set a massive standard of hotness and I don’t think the next book can match it, but it wouldn’t mind if it was hotter than this *innocent look*
Okay I wasn’t kidding before, even while writing this review I can’t think straight, my brain has been turned into mush after it.
My thoughts on the cover? Well everyone knows a picture is worth a thousand words, with this book it’s so true, as soon as you see the cover you know what it’s going to be about, although I don’t think that’s what Alex or Brittney look like- I pictured him this sex god kinda person, and Brittney a sexy goddess to match him and the guy and girl on the cover are too plain to be them.
I crash and swoon on guys HARD!! And Alex is on that list right now *giggles* yeah you get the drift, why can’t he be in my chemistry class?
Hehe! Sounds like you really liked this one! I'm really glad because I bought a copy recently! I hope to make a start on it soon. Great review! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I guess sometimes we do have to ignore the people on the cover, and imagine them ourselves.
ReplyDeleteOr worse: sometimes I have to erase the actors from the movie adaptation of the book because I prefer my own version of the characters, lol.
Sam- this book was great! I hope you enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Anna- I know what you mean! It hasn't really happened to me in movies yet and hopefully it wont hehe
